SELF Portraits…I have been focusing my art practice over the last 4 years, after 25+ years working in the Creative Industries in the UK as a Creative Producer.
My chronic illness of Ehlers Danos Syndrome (EDS) and Chronic Migraines hearing loss from a genetic brain condition influence how I live my life and how I produce, create and curate my art practice.
These portraits are a refection/mirror of me and my relationship with my environment - the idea is to convey two stories - the visible and invisible, which is my experience of being disabled, sometimes I can fully interact with my environment, go for a walk, swim and rest in the sunshine - the next day I will be in complete pain and unable to move and be bed ridden for days… I want to show the utter bliss I feel in nature, I don’t get to experience all the time and I don’t take it for granted and it comes at a cost sometimes…
